Brent’s career began in the News Business and Marketing at Lake of the Ozarks in 2001, after graduating from the University of Iowa’s Schools of Business, Communication and Foreign Language.
Brent’s venture as an entrepreneur came as he left newsprint behind for a digital path, launching LakeExpo.com in 2006. The company and the website grew a loyal following through the hard years of the global recession, then through the most significant growth period in modern history. During this time LakeExpo expanded its audience to millions of readers over the years throughout the Midwest and beyond, connecting Lake Area businesses to valuable customers and exposing more vacationers to Lake of the Ozarks.
In 2018, his work in business and philanthropy prompted the Regional Economic Development Council to name him Business Person of the Year.
Brent has served on the boards of numerous local non-profits, including Community Foundation of the Lake, The Westlake Aquatic Center, and the Camden County Senior Citizens Tax Board.
Brent and his wife, Jill, raise two children, who attend School of the Osage, and the family can be found most Sunday mornings at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The Simpson family enjoys traveling together, boating, and exploring all the culinary hot spots the Lake has to offer, often meeting up with friends.
Previous to moving to Lake of the Ozarks, Brent lived throughout his youth in St. Joseph, Mo., Petaluma, Ca., Long Island, N.Y., Spain, The Quad Cities and Iowa City, Iowa.
Since moving to the Lake, he’s owned homes and lived on the West Side, East Side and North Shore in the communities of Lake Ozark, Linn Creek, Sunrise Beach and Gravois Mills/Laurie, Mo.
